… bat for Merida. In 2013, Merida was added to the Disney Princess lineup, complete with a makeover. Beyond being redesigned as a 2D character to match the rest of the Disney Princess line, the character was slimmed down, dressed in the outfit she hated from the movie, given tidied hair, and wore makeup. Chapman called the move “blatantly sexist” and signed a fan-made change.org petition to change Merida’s design back.

I am so glad they stuck with the design on the left in the end! A big part of Merida's personality is her individuality and refusal to conform to her society's expectations of her.
